Looking at a new LSV

Postby mlj427 » Mon Oct 05, 2009 6:15 pm

I'm looking at getting a new LSV so far I am looking at Tomberlin, Star, EVE (Fairplay), or Columbia/Parcar. I know most are mainly China carts but does anyone have any of them. Whats the good or bad about them? I will be buying by the end of the year.
Thanks
Mike

If you're buying new, look for the federal tax credit, should be $4000+.
The main players in the golf cart world, EZGO, Club Car and Yamaha have been very slow to react to NEV's.
Most of the NEV's that I have seen are Chinese so I would say that the dealer support is your main defense against any problems that may occur.
I would check with others that have bought from your dealer and assess their ability to service and maintain your cart.

Thanks,
I live in So. Maryland and the dealers I'm finding are in NJ, and NC. so its hard to check them out. One dealer has left over 2008 tomberlins about 150 miles away, a star dealer about 125 miles the other way has 1 if he doesn't sell it before I get there. The Parcar dealer has not sold a eagle before so he can't tell me much. The eve dealer has them on order. Not much to check out yet.
Thanks
Mike

Looked at some Star cars saturday looked very nice but they were golf carts not lsv's. Will call monday to see if they will work for the tax rebate with the factory lsv kit. Any one have any other thoughts on these?
Thanks

Star makes LSV's, I doubt that you can convert a golf cart into a legit LSV unless it has a 17 digit VIN number.
Here's a couple of dealers in Florida:

I just purchased a Tomberlin. I checked out all the rest and decided to go with this one. A couple of reasons: independent front suspension. Check this out and compare to Colombian LSV. Theirs has a front-end leaf suspension. The kind they used on Model T's. Also, the frame construction is quite impressive, the battery charge system, the full auto windshield, not plastic which we all know scratches quite easily, and they are assembled both in China AND Augusta Georgia. I live in the largest golfing community in the world, been here around 6 years, so I was looking for the best fit for me. Something I can use on the golf course AND on the street. The tax credit the govt is allowing until Dec.31 2009 is just too good to pass up. It's paying for half of the cost. However you have to get it licensed and insured for one year. Cost of insurance is about $550 per year. This tax credit is for approved LSV only. I'm still waiting for mine as there is a huge demand for Tomberlin in The Villages Fl as there is with other manufactures.
Hope this helps.
