Removal of Mildew from Golf Cart Seat

Removal of Mildew from Golf Cart Seat

Postby JAREDFUTCH » Fri Nov 04, 2005 1:34 pm

I am a new yamaha cart owner and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to remove mildew from a seat. The seat is relatively new but has dark mildew spots. I have tried household mildew removers with no luck. Any advice is appreciated.

JARADFUTCH,
Welcome to Buggies forum! :D
Set your seat out in direct sunlight and soak it with Clorox Clean Up, let it sit, repeat if necessary.
Worked for me numerous times!

I use Greased Lightning and a med to stiff bristle brush. Comes right out.

Jared,
I had that same problem, I used almost everything that I knew of to remove that mildew from the seat. One day, I was moving stuff around on a shelf in the shop. I ran across a can of ACETONE. Well, I'll try that. IT WORKED!

A rough cloth, (bath towel) will work good. The rough will get into the grooves of the stitching too. A spray can of carb. cleaner will work too, but the acetone works better. Have you tried car wax on your windshield? That will suprise you how well that works too.......

Would almost gurantee that CASTROL-Super Clean (purple spray bottle) would remove it with very little problem. Just spary it on and let it soak for a few minutes if possible, then I always use a dish cloth or the like. letting it dry out good in the sun will help as mold will not grow in sun light (i don't think) Have had this problem many times with white seats on previous carts. This stuff has made them look new since I started using it.

Be sure and post what worked the best.
It might save someone a lot of experimentation the next time.
