Cart will not start

I have a mid 70's ezgo gas cart, when you push the gas down power 12v can be found all the way to the forward/reverse switch top connection. There are three wires coming from the bottom of the switch all of them are hot. The cart will not even turn over. Any thoughts? Thanks

there may be a shorted starter/generator. if you can get an EZ-GO shop to make you a copy of the wire diagram for your car make sure all the wires are correct.

There are 3 wires. One is ground. If the F handle is engaged, only one wire should be hot. Now, if the R is engaged, only the other wire is hot. If the handle is at N, there should be no voltage. To be sure, look for a site here that has an EZGO manual which you can download in Adobe.
