Cart Now Running Slower

Postby daddyboy » Fri Nov 06, 2009 5:31 pm

I have a '92 EZGO Marathon, 36 volt resistor cart. On an earlier post last weekend, I stated that the resistor coils were sparking wildly. I found that the third speed (larger) coil was burned away from the bolt, thus the sparking. I have since replaced the old resistor coils, checked the selenoid and cleaned the swiper board. I put everything back together and the cart seems to be running ok, but, seems to be running a little slower that it was before. Could I have miss wired something to cause this slower speed? Other than the seemingly slower speed, it is ok, I just don't want to mess anything up. does anyone have a wiring schematic they could E-Mail to me at daddyboy6100@yahoo.com
Thanks for any help.

Make sure that when you press the pedal that the wiper arm moves all the way to the last contact.

When the original problem occurred, the top copper stud on the swiper board for the pedal melted a little. I took it out and used my dremel tool to grind the melted copper off and reshape it to round. When I did this, it took some of the thickness of the stud away. I had too grind a little off the second stud so that the spring loaded contacted would not get caught on the top stud. In other words I had to kind of taper the second stud so that the pedal would smoothly travel from the top stud downward. Could this have caused the problem and should I replace any of the studs? I checked the pedal when I was putting everything back together and the pedal is going all the way to the top.
Thank You for your response, any ideas would be appreciated.

How worn is the movable contact, that is the spring loaded one in the wiper arm? Is it making good contact on last contact at full throttle?

The moveable contact looks in good condition, but I don't believe it is making good contact. I have ordered some new copper posts and as soon as they come in I'll put them on and see how it does.
Thank you for your help and advice, you folks on this forum are awsome!!!!
