25-30 MPH

Postby melraid » Sat Jan 17, 2004 7:47 pm

I've got a reconditioned club car, new motor & new Trojans. 48 V. I got a slightly larger than standard motor that they offered, and am at 18 MPH. What would it take to do 25-30 MPH. I understand a larger motor (5+ HP), and a new speed controller would probably hit 25 MPH. We use this cart for golf, but also as a second car in the community that I live, and I am wondering what it would take to do 30 MPH, and is that wise? Thanks :D

25 mph can be achieved with a upgraded motor and controller.
Stopping is the problem from those speeds. You got to remember you still have the same braking power.

Cartfixer is right with the brakes and it is illegal to make a cart run faster than 25 MPH but they don't enforce that law where I live. I have achieved 35 MPH in a Taylor Dunn and even though the tires will lock when I brake hard the cart can get squirrelly with the back tires locked. Just a word of caution I would hate to see someone make the six o'clock news.
